Reflections

Reflections

Using the tricks of analogue portrait photographers, Vaseline on the lens, and various diffusing and masking techniques, we dissolved our portrait images to a ghostly absent presence. We printed these photographs in pairs on silk, as a comment upon the invisibility of older women. What if we valued wrinkles? What if we searched each morning for new wrinkles as a sign of beauty? A goal reached? A wondrous thing? As opposed to turning away in disgust, horror, disbelief, even despair? Can our images begin to reveal this shift to acceptance? We also chose to look at reflections of each other with a tender gaze.
